daycare & boarding
Mission Dog offers trainings and educational resources for dog daycare and boarding businesses. We believe it is our responsibility to provide the highest possible standard of care for the dogs we call clients. And the best part is: owners notice! They notice when their dog seems more relaxed, and less stressed. They also notice when Larry the Lab seems more manageable, is jumping less and is sitting more often.
That’s what we’re here for. To teach staff about handling, dog body language, and all things dog, as well as what we can do to keep dogs relaxed, reinforce manners and prevent injuries or fights.
What are the benefits of our programs?
- Diffuse and predict aggression via body language
- Prevent and break up fights
- Train and reinforce good manners (a great selling feature)
- Increase relaxation; keep dogs calm
- Management strategies for difficult dogs
- Integrate enrichment for relaxation
- Learn why you don’t need to yell, squirt and micro manage all day long
Workshops
Workshops are presented as one or two day events. We can accommodate 2-3 topics per day, depending on the topic. We’re happy to customize our workshops to meet your needs. So, if there is something that we don’t offer, but you’d like us to present on, let us know! Please scroll through the topics below.
Enrichment and Reinforcing Manners
As you expand and grow, the more dogs you have, the hairier it can get. More dogs, more noise, more stress for dogs and staff. This workshop will teach staff how to reinforce good manners, quiet dogs and provide dogs with what they need while they are with you. We’ll give you practical recommendations for easy going and high drive dogs that will help keep your staff (and the dogs) sane. An added benefit - delighted clients and great word of mouth!
Safe Off Leash Dog Playgroups
Learn how to read canine body language, prevent fights and keep the dogs and staff safe. Learn how to teach dogs self control, how to implement management for your “problem dogs” and how to determine when a dog needs a break or is no longer daycare appropriate. We’ll discuss dog-dog resource guarding, prey drive and more.
Initial Evaluations and Trial Runs
Learn how to do an initial dog-dog introduction and how to identify stress, anxiety or outright fear. Our goal is to keep dogs safe and happy, and safely integrate them into the playgroup. Learn about pack dynamics, breed traits and how to give the green light or when to refuse business based on behavior.
